LinkedIn as a Platform for Customer Acquisition and New Web Design Jobs

In this podcast, Jakob and Jonas talk about how Jakob was able to attract five new customers to his company within 10 weeks by using LinkedIn. Jakob reports that although he had already been registered on LinkedIn since 2017, he never had actively used the platform. In February, he decided to change his LinkedIn strategy and started creating and sharing content. In the beginning, however, he had not sent out contact requests or added many contacts, but instead focused on creating high-quality content. It was only after around 600 followers, which he was able to gain through his content, that he began launching outreach campaigns in which he targeted potential customers and pitched his services.

Jakob emphasizes that it is important to offer added value and to be authentic with every contribution. He now uses fixed formats for his contributions, which he posts twice a week, and has started actively reaching out to people to promote his services. Although Jakob works in web development, he has found that he also reaches people who are not necessarily interested in the topic, but still subscribe to his newsletter to get inspiration and learn something.

Jakob also mentions that he hasn't used any call-to-actions in his posts so far, but instead asks readers to leave feedback in the comments. He believes that good content that offers added value and is authentic will always find its target audience.

Overall, it is therefore possible to acquire new customers via LinkedIn by creating high-quality content and actively reaching out to potential customers. It is important to focus on the needs of the target group and offer them added value.

We also discussed the following topics:

  • Why LinkedIn as a platform for customer acquisition?
  • What type/size of customers have you been able to achieve with it?
  • Which posts worked well?
  • Do you have to convince potential customers a lot about Webflow? If so how?

Another important aspect is a strong LinkedIn profile with many contacts and regular posts. Jakob has found that his posts work well and receive lots of likes, comments, and impressions, resulting in a high level of social proof. When potential customers come to his profile, they see that he is active and competent. Jakob emphasizes the importance of authenticity and therefore also posts personal contributions. However, this is primarily about reach, as he is aware that he gains customers through business content in which he shows his expertise. Jakob tries to maintain a certain continuity in his contributions by using similar images so that people can quickly see what it's about. Jakob also shows that images with a personal touch work particularly well on LinkedIn. Jakob has won a total of five new customers through targeted LinkedIn marketing and a strong presence on social networks.
