I Was the Youngest Webflow Expert in the World | Interview with Simon Lampert
Level:
Welcome to a new Webflow Talk. Simon Lampert is my guest today. He himself already had the official “Webflow Expert” status at 17 and, according to his research, was the youngest expert in the world at the time.
Many know him in connection with the Webflow agency Finsweet, for whom he worked for a year. Back then, among other things, he helped set up the Client First Style system and even today he builds his websites exclusively according to this principle.
We talk about the benefits of Client-First, how he became a professional Webflow Partner so early on, how he gets new customers, and what we expect from this year's Webflow Conf.

The freedom and versatility of Webflow fascinated me right from the start
Today I, Simon Lampert, would like to talk about my journey, how I became the youngest Webflow expert in the world at the age of 17 and how this experience has affected my career.
It was an exciting moment when, at the age of 17, I unofficially acquired the title of the youngest Webflow expert. Although this status may no longer be valid, it was still an exciting experience.
The motivation behind my start with Webflow
I remember being passionate about web design and development from an early age. During my school days, I began to study HTML and CSS and built my first own websites. When I came across Webflow, a world of creative options opened up for me without having to dive deep into programming. The freedom and versatility of Webflow fascinated me right from the start.
The importance of client first in web design
Client First was a method that revolutionized the way I work. The idea of creating small, reusable components and then combining them into more complex structures not only brought speed to my work, but also a clear structure. With a fixed CSS naming convention, I was able to easily navigate between projects and always had a clear overview of my code.
Scalable projects with client first
I'll explain why Client First not only improves my work speed, but also increases the scalability of my projects. The clear structure and reusability of components make it easier to adapt and expand websites over time. Client First also enables efficient collaboration with other developers and designers.
Experience with component libraries such as Relume
In the podcast conversation, I also talk about my experiences with component libraries such as Relume. I'll explain how I've used such tools to save and reuse my own components. Although I am currently no longer actively logged on to Relume, I recognize the added value of such libraries for the efficient development of websites.
While prefabricated components such as navigation bars are helpful in many cases, they can also present challenges. Styles and adjustments often have to be adopted, which can take time. In such cases, it is important to consider whether it is worth using a prefabricated component or whether it is better to design it individually.
The Webflow community as a valuable resource
The Webflow community has become an important resource for web designers over the years. It offers a wide range of tutorials, discussions, and tips about using Webflow.
The importance of multilanguage support in Webflow
One important addition that I would like to see for Webflow is full multilanguage support. Especially in a global environment, it is crucial to offer websites in multiple languages. The ability to easily manage content in different language versions would be of great benefit to many web designers and their customers.
Efficient web design with tools like Figma
When designing websites, I often use tools like Figma to create components quickly and efficiently. In particular, I find Figma's flexibility helpful. It allows me to react quickly to changes and adapt my design.
The role of no-code tools and Webflow
In my career, I've recognized the importance of no-code tools like Webflow. They also enable people without extensive programming knowledge to create appealing and functional websites. As a Webflow expert, I've learned how valuable it is to develop expertise in such a tool and to help others implement their projects.
Overcoming language barriers
The ability to communicate in English can be an important skill for being present in the international web design community. While it can be challenging at first, it's rewarding to open up and communicate in English. Customers and colleagues particularly appreciate results and competence, regardless of minor language discrepancies.
Webflow updates and community engagement
Webflow's regular updates, such as new shortcuts, show the company's commitment to constantly improve the tool. The Webflow community plays an important role in this by providing feedback and ideas for improvements. The upcoming Webflow conference is particularly exciting, at which new features and developments may be presented.
Collaboration and real-time coworking
Collaboration in real time is a much-discussed topic. Tools like Figma make it possible to work on a project at the same time and see changes in real time. While such functions are not yet fully implemented in Webflow, this could further simplify the work process and make collaboration even more efficient in the future.
